Settings
Open Settings from the bottom of the sidebar, with ⌘, on a Mac, or by typing “settings” in the ⌘K box.
Notes folder
Shows where your notes are. Switch… opens a different folder. Your old folder stays as it was; you can switch back at any time.
Rebuild the search index rebuilds Noughtpad’s index from your notes. You only need it if search ever seems out of date. Your notes aren’t touched.
Sync
Sign in with Google and turn on Sync this notebook. Shows when the last sync happened, and anything that needs your attention. About sync
Finding connections
Search by meaning, related notes and ideas over time. Turns on the small model (about 65 MB) that runs on your computer and powers all three. You can turn it off again.
Reset what related notes learned. Related notes adjust to what you open and dismiss. This forgets that and starts fresh. Notes you’ve marked “Not related” stay hidden.
Chat
Language models shows which model chat uses, if any, and takes you to the Models page. About chat and models
Writing
- Font for note text: System (your computer’s own font), Serif, Rounded, Monospace, or any font installed on your computer under Other….
- Text size: System, or a size from 12 to 28 pixels.
A sample line shows the result. These apply to this computer only.
Layout
- Always show the sidebar and toolbar. Otherwise they stay hidden until you move the pointer to the edge. Same as ⌘\.
- Show recent notes under the editor. The writing page is a blank page by default; this adds a list of recent notes below it.
Start-up
Open at login starts Noughtpad when you log in to your computer, so quick capture (⌘⇧Space) works straight away.
- On a Mac it starts in the background. Closing the window keeps it running; ⌘Q quits.
- On Windows and Linux it starts minimised. Closing the window quits.
